&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;If – as the saying goes - a year is a long time in politics, then it’s a veritable eternity in digital. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;This rate of change meant that SXSW Interactive of 2013 was a very different beast to the one held 12 months earlier. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Gone were the flashing lights of the Nike Fuelband launch and the explosion of start-up So-Lo-Mo software apps that stole the show in 2012. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;And in its place was a SXSW that provided a true celebration of maker culture and hardware hackers. Everywhere you looked there were start-ups mixing physical and digital in exciting new ways.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis set the tone in his opening keynote remarks, announcing a new 3D printing ecosystem. The MakerBot Replicators for 3D desktop printing and the Tron-like MakerBot Digitizer for 3D scanning wowed the crowd and set minds to work on what the possible implications of 3D printing could achieve.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Across the road from the Convention Centre, another revolutionary product was being launched. The Leap Motion gesture control device delivers pinpoint accurate control of what’s happening on screen, without the need to touch it.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;It’s basically Minority Report way ahead of the 2054 AD. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Part of what’s fueling this new breed of hardware startups is crowd-funding platforms like indiegogo.com and Kickstarter.com. During Monday’s keynote &lt;span class="captionleft"&gt;Julie Uhrman proved testament to this by unveiling Ouya, a &lt;/span&gt;$99 free-to-play game console built on Android&lt;span class="captionleft"&gt; on Kickstarter. Julie was initially looking for &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;$950,000, but she managed to reach her goal within 8 hours and to date has since raised over $8,500,000. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="captionleft"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Her challenge now is to get it built and shipped in time not to disappoint her &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;63,000 backers.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Another area of tech being re-imagined by hardware hackers and the maker culture is the way we gather, distribute and understand News. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;Open source communities like Public Lab provide DIY kits that help people independently assess and share environmental data they have gathered. Other NewsBots projects, like Data Toys, offer digitally-enabled devices that allow users to explore data and systems through play.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="presname"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Colleen Macklin the leader of the Data Toys project used an Orrey to describe why she thinks traditional linear News is complex and how she aims to simplify it:&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;“Explaining&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt; the relative positions and motions of the planets and moons in the Solar System is complex, if you’re trying write it down. With an &lt;span class="presname"&gt;Orrey it can be explained easily. Think of Data Toys as a Orrey for the way we understand News and information.”&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span class="presname"&gt;&lt;span&gt;It’s progress of this nature that’s now most affecting how we as marketers work. The hardware revolution has gathered pace in such a way that consumers will soon have expectations way above anything they could have dreamed before, whether that’s in terms of content, price, communication or speed. SXSW was a week of clear proof that those willing to embrace this will be the ones best positioned to thrive. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;There’s just two months to go to the biggest party in the UK rugby calendar, the Marriott London Sevens and our TV ad promoting the event went live this weekend, airing on Sky and ITV.&lt;span&gt;  &lt;/span&gt;The ad compares the dedication of an England Sevens player, Dan Norton with a fan creating his elephant fancy dress costume for the event. It is shot in a style reminiscent of 80’s sports action films, with a soundtrack to match!&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;In 2012, 95,681 cars were stolen. Of cars fitted with Tracker Stolen Vehicle Recovery units (SVRs), 95% were reunited with their owners, 86% within the first 24 hours.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;Our new campaign for Tracker brings to life the true stories of people being reunited with their cars, and celebrates Tracker’s unique technology and partnership with the nation’s police that make it so brilliant. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;span&gt;The campaign features six full-page press executions plus a cover wrap and advertorial feature in the FT Weekend Magazine and Sunday Times Driving section. Our new campaign promoting group stays at Marriott’s Hotel &amp; Country Clubs showed how, you can become an overnight golf legend among your group, by playing one of their Championship courses twice in two days.&lt;/p&gt;
